Background
Andhra Pradesh, situated in the south eastern coast of India is the seventh largest state according to area. It has a population of 8.46 crore with 66.64% of it living in the rural areas and the rest in urban. The state’s literacy rate is 67.02% according to the 2011 census. It has an SC population of 16.40% and ST population of 7%. Andhra Pradesh economy is mainly based on agriculture and livestock with over 60% of the population engaged in agriculture and related activities. The state has 21590 Gram Panchayats, 1097 Block Panchayats and 22 District Panchayats. The State Rural Livelihood Mission of Andhra Pradesh known as SERP (Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty) was established by the State government in the year 2000 to implement rural development projects through social mobilisation and by providing livelihood opportunities.
Kudubashree NRO is working with SERP (Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty) for implementing the Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Program.
Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Program
The MoU between SERP and Kudumbashree NRO for implementing SVEP in two blocks of Rajam and Narasannapeta in Srikakulam district was signed in November, 2017. A state-level stakeholder orientation workshop was conducted in Vijayawada immediately afterwards. In January 2018, MoU for two more blocks of Tanuku and Markapur in West Godavari and Prakasam districts was signed. Mentors from Kudumbashree NRO were engaged in the field to coordinate mobilisation, selection and orientation of CRPs-EP. The CRPs-EP were engaged in the data collection process for the preparation of DPRs in all the blocks. CRPs-EP are currently being trained in functional aspects like finance, marketing and operations and also technical awareness on a wide range of enterprise types.
