The Village Poverty Reduction Plan (VPRP) is a community demand plan prepared by the SHG network which can be further integrated into the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) of a Gram Panchayat. In 2020, NRLM entrusted Kudumbashree NRO to conduct online training on the process of VPRP, importance of Gram Sabha, and integration of VPRP to GPDP at the national level. These are the formats to be used at different level (SHG/VO/ Panchayat) to prepare VPRP.

The Village Poverty Reduction Plan (VPRP) is a community demand plan prepared by the SHG network which can be further integrated into the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) of a Gram Panchayat. The VPRP process provides the Self Help Group (SHG) network an opportunity to raise their demands in a systematic manner. Kudumbashree NRO has developed a systematic programme for demand generation from SHGs and Village Organisations (VOs) and for consolidating them at the Gram Panchayat level in the form of Village Poverty Reduction Plans (VPRP). In 2019-20, Kudumbashree NRO had facilitated this process in 7911 SHGs and 1459 VOs in 482 local governments across Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

Considering the above experience, National Rural Livelihood Mission entrusted Kudumbashree NRO to conduct online training on the process of VPRP, importance of Gram Sabha, and integration of VPRP to GPDP at the national level. Resource persons representing 34 SRLMs (29 states and 5 Union Territories) across the country participated in the first phase of the training programme.

The major preparation for the training programme has been developing IEC materials, developed in English and Hindi, to be used during the sessions. The IEC materials include a complete handbook on VPRP, a Trainer of Trainer’s (ToT) module on VPRP and voiceover videos on filling up formats in addition to presentations and videos.
