NMMU Visit To Amarpur Block
As part of the ongoing efforts towards strengthening and universalising the PRI-CBO Convergence programme, immersion site assessments are being tested across selected blocks using a structured assessment grading tool developed to understand the depth of collaboration and convergence established under the project.
In this context, a field assessment visit was conducted by representatives from the National Mission Management Unit (NMMU), Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), at Amarpur RD Block in Gomati District, Tripura on 4th and 5th May 2026. Amarpur is one of the immersion blocks supported under the PRI-CBO Convergence Project and comprises 18 Village Committees (VCs), 10 Gram Panchayats...
(GPs), 3 CLFs, 58 VOs, and 1,117 SHGs.
The visiting NMMU team included Dr. Jui Bhattacharya, National Mission Manager (NMM), Ms. Meghna Sen, Project Lead, and Mr. Ezekiah Francis, Project Lead. During the visit, the team interacted extensively with various stakeholders and community institutions engaged in the PRI-CBO Convergence process. Interactions were held with members of Mother Teresa CLF, Mahila Shakti VO, Citizen Committees, Panchayat Elected Representatives, and the Village Organization Coordination Committee (VOCC). The team also engaged with children from Balasabha, reflecting the inclusive and community-led approach being nurtured in the immersion sites.
The visit was facilitated by the District Mission Coordinator (DMC), District Coordinator (DC), Block Mission Coordinator (BMC), and the Kudumbashree NRO Mentor supporting the state.
A debriefing session was subsequently organised at the SMMU office in Agartala, where key observations and reflections from the field were shared in the presence of Sri Abhranil Bhattacharjee (PM-IB & SI), the State...
Program Manager – IBCB, Associate Program Manager – IB & SI, and the State Project Coordinator from Kudumbashree NRO.
The assessment process highlighted the strong capacities and ownership demonstrated by community institutions and grassroots stakeholders in the immersion block. At the same time, valuable suggestions emerged for further strengthening institutional systems and community processes, including the development of suggestive task lists for committees, strengthening VPRP demand and achievement tracking mechanisms at CLF and VO levels, and continued efforts for functionalising the additional VO sub-committees.
Kudumbashree NRO appreciates the initiative undertaken by NMMU to assess and strengthen immersion sites through this participatory grading process. Such assessment efforts not only acknowledge the progress made by communities and institutions on the ground but also provide important learning inputs for further enhancing the capacities of community-based organisations and Panchayati Raj Institutions under the PRI-CBO Convergence framework.
