The Panchayat Apprenticeship Program is an intensive five-day learning initiative primarily designed for elected representatives of Panchayats and members of Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), though others interested in grassroots governance are also encouraged to participate. The program combines field visits, classroom sessions, and group presentations to offer a comprehensive, hands-on understanding of the functioning of Gram Panchayats in Kerala. Participants gain insights into the Panchayat's structure, funding mechanisms, roles, and responsibilities, as well as the collaborative efforts between Panchayats and various institutions in delivering services to citizens through effective planning and implementation. This field-based learning experience aims to inspire participants to foster accountability and responsibility within their own Panchayats and institutions. Additionally, they will closely observe existing convergence mechanisms among CBO networks, Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), and other transferred institutions for the benefit of the society.
