State Level Orientation In Lakshadweep
On April 20–21, 2026, Kudumbashree National Resource Organisation facilitated the State Level Orientation (SLO) for the Food, Nutrition, Health & WASH (FNHW) programme in Kavaratti, organised by the Lakshadweep Rural Livelihoods Mission (LRLM) under DAY-NRLM, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.
The two-day orientation marked the formal launch of structured FNHW activities across the pilot islands of Agatti and Amini, bringing together nearly 70 participants — community network members from the Dweep Shree federations (NHGs, ALFs, ILFs), line department officials from Health, Women & Child Development, Agriculture, and Animal Husbandry, along with UT administration and national mission representatives.
The programme covered:
● National...
FNHW–NRLM strategy, presented by Dr. Vasudha Shukla, National Mission Manager, NMMU-NRLM, MoRD
● Departmental convergence - how Health, WCD, Agriculture, and Animal Husbandry can work in partnership with Dweep Shree structures for last-mile service delivery
● Field-level action planning, with community members and line department officials developing one-year plans together
● Best practices from Kerala's FNHW journey — by SAPM FNHW, Ms.Krishnakumari
● Progress updates from our mentors deployed in Agatti and Amini
● Implementation strategy and way forward for the Lakshadweep pilot
A recurring theme across both days was the significant gap between available government schemes and community awareness of them — from nutrition support for pregnant women to subsidies for farm infrastructure. Closing that gap, through sustained community engagement and institutional convergence, is precisely what the FNHW programme is designed to do.
We thank LRLM for their leadership and partnership, the Dweep Shree community network for their active engagement, and all line department officials for their commitment to the convergence approach....
Special thanks to Dr. Vasudha Shukla, NMMU-NRLM and Shri Adithya Bhatt, Director Rural Development & State Mission Director, LRLM, for anchoring the programme with purpose and clarity.
